CM Chandrababu Naidu performs bhoomi puja for LV Prasad Eye Institute in Amaravati
National, September 24: The foundation has been laid for another prestigious institution in the capital city of Amaravati. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu performed the bhoomi puja for the construction of the LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) at Abbarajupalem in Tulluru mandal. He later unveiled the foundation stone and formally launched the construction works.
The LV Prasad Eye Institute will be established across 12 acres under the Sudha and Venkat Jasti Campus. The hospital is being designed to provide eye-care services to around 3 lakh people every year. In addition to treatment, the institute will focus on ophthalmic research, training and community health programmes. A dedicated Eye and Brain Centre will also be established.
Addressing a public gathering after the bhoomi puja, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said it was a matter of pride for Amaravati, which is being developed at a rapid pace, to have prestigious institutions such as LV Prasad Eye Institute.
He said the institute, which has already provided 30 million eye-care services, would expand its services from Amaravati. He expressed the hope that the Amaravati centre would be developed into one of the world’s leading institutions for ophthalmic research.
The Chief Minister said the centre should emerge as a world-class institution not only for eye care but also for research and training. He noted that LV Prasad Eye Institute was playing a key role in providing eye care to the poor and said the organisation was operating 319 centres across four states.
He said the institute was using Digital Health Eye Profiles to ensure that people receive timely treatment. He also appreciated the establishment of the Eye and Brain Centre in Amaravati and congratulated G.N. Rao and Venkat Jasti for their efforts in developing the institution.
Amaravati to emerge as a quantum hub
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said Amaravati was now being discussed across the country and that the people’s capital was gaining international recognition.
He said Amaravati was being developed as a No-Pollution City, Blue-Green City, Green Energy City, Carbon-Neutral City and Deep-Tech Capital. Along with making the city pollution-free, extensive green spaces were being developed and measures were being taken to promote the use of green energy.
The Chief Minister said the State had shifted its focus from IT to quantum computing and that the country’s first quantum computing centre was being established in Amaravati.
A 133-qubit quantum computer is being set up with the participation of IBM, TCS and L&T, he said. He added that 21 quantum startups had already come forward to begin operations in Amaravati.
He said five quantum computing companies had developed three-qubit computers and announced that quantum computers would be installed at various universities on October 3.
Works worth ₹50,000 crore underway in the capital
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said works worth around ₹50,000 crore were currently underway in Amaravati.
He said key infrastructure projects, including the Inner Ring Road, Outer Ring Road, Sports City and an international airport, were coming up in the capital.
Institutions such as VIT, SRM and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham had already established their presence, while campuses of BITS Pilani and XLRI would be coming up soon, he said.
The Chief Minister said Amaravati was being developed as a hub for the knowledge economy, research, healthcare and human development. As part of the healthcare ecosystem, leading institutions such as Basavatarakam Cancer Institute and LV Prasad Eye Institute were coming to the capital.
He said Amaravati would emerge as a hub for AI, laboratory automation, experimental biology and a Quantum Bio Valley.
The Chief Minister once again appreciated the farmers who had contributed their lands for the construction of the capital. He said the land pooling process and the sacrifices made by the farmers would remain etched in history.
He said Amaravati would also emerge as a centre of financial activity through the proposed Banking Street.
Pan-IIT Conference on October 3
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said the Pan-IIT Conference would be held in Vijayawada on October 3.
Experts who studied at various IITs and are now settled across the world would participate in the conference and engage in discussions on key issues, he said.
He said Pan-IIT was working towards contributing to the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
The Chief Minister said Amaravati would emerge as a centre for advanced technology and innovation in the future. He expressed the hope that the capital would become a destination for world-class living standards and research.
He said the LV Prasad Eye Institute should emerge as a world-class centre for eye care, research, treatment and training.
Calling upon the youth to make the most of technology and emerging opportunities, he said they should aim high and achieve their full potential.
Minister P. Narayana, local MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar, LV Prasad Eye Institute founder G.N. Rao, and others attended the programme.
