New Delhi, 8th October, 2026: Established with a vision to bring about innovation in higher education and learning in emerging areas of the knowledge society, the University of the Future, NIIT University (NU) has further strengthened its long-standing focus on artificial intelligence, data science, and AI-led research and innovation with the launch of its AI Centre of Excellence, a dedicated facility that brings enterprise-grade GPU computing and industry-standard AI tools directly to campus. The Centre gives students hands-on experience in training, fine-tuning and deploying AI models from the very first year of their academic journey, in a secure, high-performance environment built on NVIDIA technologies.
As India accelerates enterprise AI adoption across industries, the demand for skilled AI professionals continues to outpace supply. According to NASSCOM, India’s AI talent pool is expected to grow from 600,000–650,000 professionals in 2024 to more than 1.25 million by 2027, reflecting the growing need for graduates with hands-on experience in enterprise AI infrastructure and GPU-powered computing. Through its AI Centre of Excellence, NIIT University aims to bridge this skills gap by providing students, faculty, and research scholars with access to practical, industry-ready AI infrastructure and hands-on learning opportunities.
AI Centre of Excellence is an extension of NIIT University’s focus on AI led education, inter-disciplinary learning and industry-academia collaboration. The new laboratory is intended to be a high-performance computing hub for Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Edge AI, Generative AI, Agentic AI, and data-intensive research and is outfitted with three YodaEdge devices capable of supporting up to 30 concurrent users. This scalable and collaborative environment allows students, faculty and researchers to experiment with modern AI frameworks, development tools and enterprise-grade deployment methodologies.
The facility will support a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary applications, including Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models, Intelligent IoT Systems, Predictive Analytics, and Smart Healthcare solutions. Beyond regular coursework and research, the laboratory is also envisioned as a venue for faculty development programmes, technical workshops, hackathons, industry interaction programmes, and startup incubation activities.

Hands-on AI learning with enterprise-grade infrastructure
The Centre is powered by an enterprise-grade AI technology stack, including NVIDIA DGX YodaEdge systems, NVIDIA NeMo, NVIDIA NIM Microservices, PyTorch and JupyterLab, giving students access to the tools and infrastructure used to build, train and deploy AI models in enterprise environments.Through the Centre, students will build:
- Generative AI applications
- Agentic AI systems
- RAG pipelines and multi-agent workflows
- Multimodal AI applications spanning vision, speech and reasoning
- Robotics and perception systems
- Model optimization and quantization techniques
- Human-Computer Interaction research
