DataWind donates 50 tablet PCs to girls at Khushi Rainbow home

New Delhi, Nov 14 Low-cost tablet maker Datawind today donated 50 devices to underprivileged girls at Khushi Rainbow home on the occasion of the Children’s Day.

“This is a prime example of how technology developed in Canada can empower India’s masses with better quality education. The skills the children using these tablets will gain will help them thrive in tomorrow’s economy,” Canadian Minister Navdeep Bains said at tablet distribution ceremony.

The ceremony was organised to mark completion of 5 million sales of Datawind’s UbiSlate tablet computers.

As per Cybermedia Research, Datawind is top tablet PC seller in India. The company provides one year of unlimited Internet access bundled with its tablet.

Khushi Rainbow Home provides shelter to girls that are rescued by child protection agencies, trapped as abusive domestic labour, lost or abandoned from their homes, abducted or sold for sex-work, and also children who have run away from threatening and abusive environments.
