Bengaluru, March 17, 2025– The International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-B) has signed a SoW with the Software Development Institute, Indian Air Force (SDI, IAF) for joint research, design, and development of waveform. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in strengthening India’s self-reliance towards critical defence technologies.
Under this partnership, IIIT-B will serve as the technical institution, conducting cutting-edge research and development (R&D) in collaboration with SDI-IAF, which is sponsoring the project. IIIT-B will provide the necessary resources and support for certification, ensuring the project meets the highest standards of reliability and effectiveness.
Dr. Prem Singh, Lead Principal Investigator of the R&D team, emphasized the impact of this collaboration: “This partnership with the Indian Air Force is a testament to IIIT-B’s research and development excellence. We are not only advancing defence technology but also contributing to India’s strategic self-reliance in secure communication systems.”

This collaboration with academia marks a pivotal step in that journey, laying the foundation for a resolute push toward indigenization. We aspire to translate several of these efforts into operational reality, strengthening our nation’s technological sovereignty.”
This partnership strengthens IIIT-B’s role in defence technology research and paves the way for future collaborations, reinforcing India’s capabilities in indigenous technological advancements.
