Nihilent Resurrects the Voices and Images of Freedom Fighters Using Cutting-edge Generative AI Technology

Nihilent Limited has created a one-of-its-kind AI-generated campaign to celebrate India’s 77th Independence Day for a leading media house. The first Indian AI-generated campaign has featured freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhas Chandra Bose, Sarojini Naidu, BR Ambedkar, Maulana Azad, Sardar Vallabhai Patel & Rabindranath Tagore to sing the national anthem and pay tribute to the heroes.

Nihilent’s expertise in Generative AI authentically recreated the appearance and voices of India’s Freedom Fighters. By utilising original archival recordings and images of these revered figures, Generative AI models were meticulously trained to produce lifelike images, videos, and voices. Nihilent Limited assembled a diverse team of researchers, AI Whisperers, coders, visual designers, editors, sound engineers, and musicians to bring this ambitious project to fruition.

KV Shridhar, Chief Creative Officer Nihilent Limited, highlights, “We are glad to showcase the glorious efforts of our freedom fighters. India’s Independence has an unmatched story, and we endeavour to make it available to the youth in the most engaging format. Our team walked that extra mile to ensure authenticity for which we worked with leading academicians and historians to bring this video as close to reality as possible

Dipankar Mukherjee, Chief Innovation Officer, Nihilent Limited, further adds “There was a big challenge at hand as we only had archival recordings of Rabindranath Tagore. The team used recordings of public speeches of the other freedom fighters and let AI imagine how they would sound singing the National Anthem. Through this project we were able to bring alive the essence of patriotism and love for the nation through immersive technology.  It is our homage to the freedom fighters and heroes of the land who have strived hard for our freedom.”

Through the anthem, Nihilent strives to delight the entire nation in the experience of watching and hearing freedom fighters come together to sing the National Anthem in their own voices. Combining the power of publicly available large language models and Nihilent’s proprietary AI models, the team recreated photorealistic characters with near-accurate resemblance to our freedom fighters.

The video was broadcasted on leading TV channels, screened at cinema theatres and distributed across social media. This is a solemn tribute to the people who dreamt of and shaped the vision of an independent and united India, and a gift to every citizen of this nation to celebrate the 77th Independence Day.
