New Delhi [India], December 09: Lifebuoy, the world’s leading germ protection soap brand, and the Bharat Scouts and Guides, India’s largest youth organization, have announced a proud partnership to promote hygiene education. The collaboration was unveiled on Children’s Day, November 14th, with the launch of the AI-Teacher Hippo, an innovative tool designed to teach children about hand hygiene through interactive games, songs, and coloring activities.
The AI-Teacher Hippo, part of Lifebuoy’s ‘H for Handwashing’ movement, uses AI and AR technology to create personalized handwashing experiences for children. This initiative comes at a critical time when 646 million children worldwide lack basic hygiene services at school, according to WHO/UNICEF.
The Bharat Scouts and Guides, with its 6.3 million members, is committed to promoting non-formal education and community service. This partnership aims to reach over 900,000 children across 9000 schools in India, making hygiene education a key part of the curriculum.
The AI-Teacher Hippo tool was launched by Dr. K. K. Khandelwal, IAS (Retd.) Chief National Commissioner of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, and Shri. Atul Gupta, Additional Director General, All India Radio & Doordarshan. The tool, developed in collaboration with Microsoft and Aircards, offers a fresh, technology-driven approach to learning, creating engaging experiences that drive positive impact.
In closing, Shri Arup Sarkar, Project Lead, BSG shared the thought of the day, “Education is not just about learning facts, but about nurturing habits. With the AI-Teacher Hippo, we are leveraging technology to instil the lifesaving habit of hand hygiene in our children.”
