The transaction will see Extreme IX become the foundation of Megaport’s expansion into one of the world’s fastest-growing digital infrastructure markets, while continuing to serve and grow its established ecosystem of partners and customers across India.
Extreme IX carries the highest Internet Exchange traffic in India exceeding 4 Tbps, and interconnects more than 400 networks across seven cities and 49 locations. Through this acquisition, Megaport gains Internet Exchanges in the major Indian metros of Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Pune – and a seasoned in-country team spanning operations, support, sales, finance, and leadership. By combining Extreme IX’s neutral, engineering-driven platform with Megaport’s global softwaredefined network (SDN), customers in India and around the world will gain access to new capabilities – from cloud connectivity and data center interconnects to automated, scalable networking options across borders.

What this means for Extreme IX customers and partners
For existing Extreme IX customers and partners, day-to-day operations remain unchanged:
- Allexisting Extreme IX services, ports, and peering relationships will continue without interruption
- Megaportwill continue operating the Internet Exchange and is committed to maintaining everything that already works well
- Theentire Extreme IX team remains in place; customers will continue working with the same people for support and operations
- Asintegration progresses, new services, automation, and network expansions will be introduced gradually, with clear communication ahead of any changes
