As digital transformation goes full swing in India, the country’s job market is witnessing rapid transition with a surge in demand for professionals who are skilled in emerging technologies.
The HR leaders of the country are of the opinion that this disruptive phase is here to stay in the year 2019 and will create more job opportunities in one of the fastest growing economies of the world.
.TimesJobs in this regard organises an exclusive survey with India’s top HR managers who jointly agreed on the fact that digitisation will lead to the birth of more jobs in domains including IT, Telecom, E-commerce, Manufacturing, Fintech and Retail in the year 2019
The survey revealed that about 75 per cent of the HR leaders predicted that hiring will get a major push in India in the year 2019 with IT/Telecom, Sales/Business Development, Engineering, Accounting and Financial Services, Banking emerging as the top recruiters.
The survey also revealed that 42 per cent of the participants agreed that the highest number of recruitment is expected to include middle-level management and firms will lean towards full-time employment against contractual staff.
TimesJobs surveyed approximately 3,000 HR leaders and managers to know their perspective on the hiring trends across varied industry verticals for the year 2019.
The survey findings reflected the following key hiring trends-:
IT sector will continue to be the top recruiter
The majority of respondents said that the IT sector will hire the most number of professionals, followed by E-commerce, Manufacturing, Fintech and Retail. These five sectors were named as the probable top hiring sectors for 2019. The survey also revealed that the startups will gear up hiring in the year 2019.
Mid-level professionals will witness maximum demand
As per 75 per cent of HR leaders, companies will prefer to hire permanent staff in 2019. When it comes to experience range, the survey reveals that candidates with an experience of 2-5 years will be hired the most in 2019.
Most hiring location
The infrastructural development of Tier II, Tier III cities and suburbs across the country is one of the reasons for an increase in job creation in these locations. Although most survey respondents say that the metro cities will hire aggressively in 2019, however, most also voted for Tier I and II cities as probable job churners.
Skill Sets which will rule the hiring spree
The survey findings reveal that people management 29 per cent will be the most in-demand skill set in 2019, followed by creativity 15 per cent with critical thinking and decision-making constituting 14 per cent each.
