Indian students to benefit from Shrewsbury and Trinity College London’s partnership

Shrewsbury International School India, which opens its campus this August, set to create a global artistic platform for its pupils through Diplomas issued by Trinity College London
Meaningful synergies between progressive institutions and forward-looking, policy-driven nations can create a lasting impact across sectors such as education, healthcare, the arts, and culture. In this context, the upcoming launch of Shrewsbury International School India in Bhopal, this August, gains added relevance, as it marks the beginning of a partnership that could add a new chapter to the idea of  ‘whole-person education’.
Shrewsbury International School India will collaborate with Trinity College London, creating a global platform for students to pursue diplomas in music and drama. This will enhance their creativity, nurture confidence and open doors to international opportunities, empowering students to become culturally enriched leaders of tomorrow.
Trinity College London, which was established in 1872, is an internationally recognised institution that specialises in the assessment of communicative and performance skills covering music, drama, combined arts and the English language.  Shrewsbury combines innovation with 473 years of academic excellence, and through this collaboration, it will not only help refine artistic talent from an early age but also open pathways for their creativity to find expression on the international stage.
“The Bhopal campus will be a Trinity College London Examination Centre for music and drama, making  it one of the few schools in India to offer this prestigious certification. The school’s world-class drama programme will encourage creative exploration and familiarise pupils with different aspects of the discipline covered genres from across the globe. In addition, they will receive individualised training in music composition and performance as part of the music programme,” notes Oliver Russell, Deputy Headmaster at Shrewsbury International School India.
Discussing the important role that music can play in modern pedagogy, he reminds that it can significantly enhance cognitive development, memory, focus and analytical thinking. In fact, a study by Johns Hopkins University, argues that instruction becomes more effective when educators integrate creative activities into academic development. “Bringing music into educational realms has yielded encouraging outcomes beyond academics by mitigating stress, nurturing holistic well-being and augmenting personal growth,” adds Mr Russell.
“This collaboration aligns well with the Floreat Model that forms the foundation of the school’s educational philosophy, and fosters personality development across four key aspects – Intellective, Active, Expressive, and Reflective. Music, drama and other performing arts encourage greater social engagement. Through these activities, we aim to nurture a group of imaginative and self-assured individuals who take genuine joy in creating and working collaboratively,” he concludes.
