The Market Research Society of India (MRSI) today appointed its first media representative Mr. Raj Sharma at its 28th Annual General Meeting. Speaking on the appointment Mr. Sanjoy Datta, President MRSI said, “Media today plays a very important role in shaping opinions in the society and hence to ensure that the market research as a profession is viewed in the correct light it is important to have a clear communication channel with the media. Mr. Raj Sharma has considerable experience and is L to R - Raj Sharma, Sandeep Saxena, Sanjoy Datta (Managing Committee - The Market Research Society of India)therefore ideal person for the role.” The appointment comes in the wake of the body undergoing several changes which include bringing in several market players not yet being members. Some of them include Mumbai-based Jyothy Laboratories Limited which has significant spends of market research. With this appointment the association also proposes to revamp the existing Socio-Economic Classification framework and include every segment of the country but more importantly addressing an overhaul of the existing parameters to internet consumption and usage. Sanjoy Datta, President MRSI commented, that in the last few years the consumption pattern has changed and how consumers obtain their information on brands, it is important to ensure that to be updated on date classification system and permit brand owners to target their consumers more accurately. When asked about how MRSI would consider supporting government projects so as to bring about social inclusion, Mr. Sharma stated, “We are self funded organization and non-profit organization, so far to date we have not reached out to any state projects but would be happy to partner with the government.” In the coming days, MRSI proposes to go in for rebranding exercise of its logo including hosting for members a first-of-its-kind technology; buyers-sellers meet next month, which will bring closer its members to resources to data and analytics-related technology providers.
