Former CEO of Housing.com Rahul Yadav’s new venture will be a data analytics and visualisation firm, whose product is likely to be used by e-commerce companies on a day-to-day basis. Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma,Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal and Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma have made personal investment in Yadav’s new venture, a highly placed source said. The name of Rahul Yadav’s venture is still under wraps.
The new company will focus on analysing large data to predict consumer behaviour and provide speedy insights at key decision points. While Vijay Shekhar Sharma confirmed his investment, Rahul Sharma and Sachin Bansal were not immediately available for comments. Talking about his investment, Vijay Shekhar Sharma told FE, “He (Yadav) is definitely an incredible maverick. He has an understanding of technology and we hope he has learnt his lesson and moved ahead.”
Yadav’s interest in data analytics goes back to his tenure at Housing.com. The company had acquired a data analytics firm called Realty Business Intelligence to have a deeper understanding of consumer behavior and to help them make better decisions.
The 26-year-old was fired by the Housing.com Board this July, alleging that his behaviour was not befitting a CEO and detrimental to the company. Ever since, Rahul has been working on his new venture and has reportedly hired his former Housing.com employees. Before leaving the company, he had allotted all personal shares worth Rs 150 cr-Rs 200 crore to employees of Housing.com.
A lot of startups are also building inhouse data science skills or are partnering with analytics firms to generate and analyse consumer behavior. For instance, Myntra, the app-only fashion retailer, has partnered with Vizury to streamline its in-app targeting and re-engagement efforts.
