Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Technology’s ‘Made in India’ Chip Featured at Semicon India 2025 inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi

4th September 2025, Mumbai – In a momentous event at Semicon India 2025 in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, unveiled ‘Made in India’ semiconductor chips. This historical launch of first 25 Made In India Semiconductor Chips also included indigenously designed Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA) IC chip developed by Vivekanand Education Society’s Institute of Technology (VESIT), an Autonomous Institute Affiliated to University of Mumbai, highlighting how the Indian Government’s Chips to Startup (C2S) Programme is empowering academic institutions to drive indigenous semiconductor innovation.

The PGA IC chip, fabricated at SCL,Mohali, on a 180 nm CMOS technology node, demonstrates VESIT’s impressive indigenous design capabilities. This Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA) chip is useful for a wide range of signal processing and computer-based systems for use in high-t

ech instrumentations, medical equipments, and defense applications. The industry partner Panache Digilife,  will use this chip to manufacture advanced electronic instruments, directly contributing to India’s burgeoning electronics manufacturing sector.

This achievement is a landmark for VESIT, making it the first private engineering institute from Maharashtra to be featured in this prestigious national initiative under  Category-I of C2S program, solidifying its place as a key contributor to the India’s Semiconductor Mission.

We are incredibly proud to see our faculty’s hard work recognized on such a prestigious national platform. This milestone is a testament to our institution’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and hands-on research. By actively participating in the Chip to Startup programme and more such initiatives, we are not only contributing to the ‘Make in India’ mission but also shaping the next generation of engineers and innovators who will lead our nation’s technological future.” said Shri. B. L. Boolani, Managing Trustee, VESIT.

VESIT remains committed to advancing India’s semiconductor ecosystem. VESIT has already designed two more chips under C2S that are currently under development, further demonstrating its sustained dedication to technological self-reliance. This significant achievement by VESIT is a powerful example of how Industry Academia collaboration is fueling the vision of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and strengthening the nation’s position on the global technology Map.
