Wipro Ltd. has announced that it has deployed the Security Connected framework of Intel Security to enhance endpoint protection for its global enterprise network. This deployment will help Wipro achieve its mission of a “near-zero malware” IT environment within the next few quarters.
Wipro has employee strength of over 150,000 people, spread across 6 continents. As users are highly mobile and connected directly to the internet, most of the endpoint devices are outside Wipro’s enterprise perimeter. Therefore, the company felt the need to enhance the security protection at endpoints while ensuring a good user experience. The aim was also to provide IT with a single management dashboard. To achieve this, Wipro deployed Intel Security’s Endpoint Protection – Advanced Suite (EPA) across 125,000 nodes. After deploying EPA, the average number of malware infections Wipro had to manage fell dramatically — from 300 to just 20 per day and more than 95% were auto-remediated.
Speaking about the transition, Raja Ukil, Chief Information Officer, Wipro Limited said, “We wanted to have an anti-malware solution which can deliver a very high rate of auto remediation and superior user experience with respect to definition updates and the Intel Security solution has scored very high on both counts.”
“One of our key requirements was centralized control and granular visibility into malware-related incidents along with remote containment capability, which we achieved using the Intel Security solution. Endpoint security controls (Intel Security EPA) integrated with network layer Intrusion Prevention System (McAfee Network Security Platform) — hardware and virtual appliances — and sophisticated sandboxing (McAfee Advanced Threat Defense) is a new experience in effective incident handling,” added Sunil Varkey, Chief Information Security Officer, Wipro Limited.
