Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), which manages tourism, catering and online railway booking operations for Indian Railways has unveiled its own payment gateway by the name ‘IRCTC iPay’.
In a statement shared to the media, IRCTC said that this enables in a fluidic digital payment experience for the passengers.
With the rollout of IRCTC iPay, passengers will not be dependent on any third party platforms for payment options including debit cards, credit cards, UPI or international cards, but can rely on IRCTC Prepaid Card cum wallet and Auto Debit.
The government-owned ticketing platform believes that this decision will reduce payment failures in case of unsuccessful online payment failures and IRCTC will contact the banks directly which will cut the delay in the process.
‘’We would also eye other government businesses where they can provide customised payment options. The back-end support will be provided by IRCTC’s technology partner Delhi based MMAD communications,’’ said IRCTC.
