Nokia To Automate Data Center Networks For Airtel

Nokia has bagged a strategic deal from Bharti Airtel to integrate Nuage Networks VSP solution across the country in 15 circles for automation of its data centre networks. The deployment will enable Airtel to offer new services including VoLTE and Mobile Edge Computing(MEC) ensuring better service experience to subscribers.

India has been registering an unparalleled surge in data consumption, compelling the telecom operators to revamp their data centres. Telecom operators, in order to offer a better experience to consumers, need to take data centres close to their subscribers. The industry is also in the race to gear up their networks for new technologies like IoT and 5G.

“We are committed to providing innovative and best customer services to our subscribers. The upcoming technologies, including 5G and IoT, demand that we move the data centres closer to our customers, so we are able to provide ultra-high speeds and extremely low latency. This is crucial for a number of new-age use cases such as Virtual Reality, autonomous driving and remote surgery,” said Randeep Sekhon, CTO at Bharti Airtel.

“Bharti Airtel is our longstanding partner and we are thrilled to support them in this endeavour to automate their data centre network,” added Sanjay Malik, Head of India Market at Nokia.
