Companies Plan Direct Listing On E-Commerce Giants

A host of big and small brands into consumer goods will be listing themselves directly on e-commerce marketplaces including Amazon and Flipkart.

Brands including Bosch, Puma, Dyson, Siemens, BPL and Bagrry’s, among others, are mulling such a  decision. The decision came after online sales plummeted in the last seven days with numerous brands including the online focused brands.

The India MD of German shoe and sportswear maker Puma has said that the company is targeting a sharp growth in sales from online marketplaces this year against a sluggish growth via premium sellers with a significant investment.

As per Ganguly, the aim is not just to shrink dependence on premium sellers but also to bring a level playing field in terms of pricing.

As per executives, the global brands have now the advantage of the latest single brand retail Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) enabling them to sell directly to Indian consumers.

Industry executives also say that they anticipate more tighter regulations on e-commerce operations in the country owing to heavy influence from offline retailers.
